Viola Marie Kosloskey, a longtime resident of Macomb County and Alden, died peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on Monday, April, 2, 2018. She was 93 years of age.
Viola was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 6, 1924, daughter of the late Clarence and Viola (nee Stancel) Wells. She graduated with honors from St. David High School in Detroit and went on to Marygrove College where she received a Bachelor of Science degree. She loved to sing most of her life and joined choir at St. Juliana School in Detroit at 11 years of age. She sang in glee club, operettas, and also at Department of Recreation events all over the City of Detroit. While raising her family she sewed many of her children’s clothes, having learned to sew from her mother as a child. She was active in the church’s she belonged to while raising her family, as well as singing in various church choirs. She was an avid reader, particularly interested in history, political figures, and holistic health healing arts. After raising her family, she began to explore alternative healing practices, psychology, and continued her quest in life to do her best to earn a place in Heaven.
Viola leaves a bright legacy in the wake of her passing and will always be remembered by her family and friends. She is survived by her 11 children; Viola (William) Lawson, James (Christine) Kosloskey, John (Julie) Kosloskey, Reynolds Kosloskey, Barbara Bryan, Margaret (Mark) Mittleman, Mary Tocco, Carol West, William (Jacqueline) Kosloskey, Kathleen Kosloskey, and Lynn (Frank) Trucano. She is also survived by 39 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She is also survived by her sister Carol (nee Wells) Martz, sister Norma (nee Wells) Niblett, and her beloved dog Miya. She was predeceased by her husband of 36 years James Ralph Kosloskey, sister Ruth (nee Wells) Bach, brother in law Richard Bach, brother Clarence “Bud” Wells, brother in law Lawrence Niblett, son in law David West, granddaughter Heather Mittleman, Michael Marrone, and son in law Barry Bryan.
Visitation will be held at Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home, 32814 Utica Road, Fraser, Friday 1pm – 8pm, with a rosary scheduled at 7pm. A funeral will be celebrated on Saturday at 11am at St. Peters Church of Mount Clemens with additional visitation starting at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be addressed to the Arbor Hospice Foundation, 2366 Oak Valley Drive, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48103.
