Shirley Jean Prout, a resident of Clinton Twp. since 1982, died peacefully Sunday afternoon, surrounded by the love of family in Beaumont Hospital, Grosse Pointe. She was 81 years of age.
Shirley was born on June 18,1936, a daughter of the late Carl and Geraldine (Rowe) Christensen. She was united in marriage to her beloved husband, Harold Prout on August 20, 1972 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The couple made their home first in Fraser, moving to Harrison Twp. in 1978 and then built their home in Clinton Twp. in 1982. Her husband Harold passed away on July 20, 1995. Shirley had worked with her husband at Motor City Accounting where they owned and operated till 1994. She had worked in her early years for Alynosis Ice Cream in Detroit and Manufactures Bank. Shirley loved her family and always put them first with love. She enjoyed playing cards, especially Uchre and Poker, and enjoyed trips to the casino slots. She was a very generous and loving person who was always willing to help others. Shirley will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Shirley is survived by her devoted children, Debra Katen and Kathy (Dan) Bartz; her loving grandchildren, Kelly Graham, Jim Wellington (Liz), Kathy (Jason) Fuller, Weston, Darren, Paige and Blake, Michael, Matthew, and Katen and by her great great grandchildren, Felicia, Ashlynn, Austin, Ava and Zoey. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold and her loving son, John Katen.
