Obituary for Carl Alexander Szlaczky

Carl Alexander Szlaczky
Carl Alexander Szlaczky, a longtime resident of St. Clair Shores, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2017 surrounded by the love of his family. He was 86 years old.

Carl was born on March 2, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan to John and Theresa (nee Christ) Szlaczky. After completing high school, Carl served honorably with the United States Army during the Korean War. After returning home, he married the love of his life, Ursula Kortebein at Mt. Zion Church in Detroit on October 22, 1960. Together, they shared a wonderful 56 years of marriage. In 1961, the couple made their home in St. Clair Shores and were blessed with three beautiful children.

Carl worked as a draftsman for Fisher Body at the GM Technical Center in Warren for over thirty years, retiring at the age of 55. After retirement, he enjoyed gardening, fishing, classic cars, and in recent years, his computer and iPod. Carl's favorite part of retirement was being able to spend more time with his family and especially his grandchildren. Above all, Carl was a man of faith who loved all of those who he now leaves behind.

Carl is survived by his dear wife Ursula; cherished children Mark Szlaczky, Monica (Peter) Rynearson, and Susan (David) Raicevick; beloved grandchildren Abigail, Philip, Leah, Alex, Christa, and Nick; and loving brother Conrad (Kathryn) Szlaczky. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2017 from 2pm until at 8pm at the Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home, 32814 Utica Road, Fraser, Michigan 48026. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 13, 2017 at 11am at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Eastpointe. Instate at the church beginning at 10:30am. Burial to follow in Cadillac Memorial Gardens East-Clinton Township. Share memories with the family at faulmannwalsh.com
