Obituary for Robert Douglas "Doug" Houck

Robert Douglas Houck "Doug", resident of Warren, died peacefully May 18, 2017. He was 69 years of age.

Doug was born in Filbert, West Virginia on May 27, 1947, son of the late Robert Lincoln and Mary Louise (Clair) Houck. He was a 1965 Lakeshore High School Graduate. After graduation, he enlisted and honorably served the U.S. Army during Vietnam War. Doug was united in marriage to Charlotte on October 15, 1981 in Fraser. The couple made their home in St. Clair Shores and was blessed with two sons. Doug was a contracted designer for General Motors for over 10 years. He was a talented artist who loved teaching children how to draw and paint; all of the kids admired his teaching and he became "Pops" to everyone. Doug was a very intelligent man who was an avid reader and an excellent cook. He also enjoyed fishing in the warm summer months. Doug was always very helpful and would give the shirt of his back to anyone in need. He will always be known for his kindred spirit and his stubborn ways. Doug will deeply missed.

Doug is the dear husband of Charlotte; loving father of Matthew Douglas and Christopher Thomas Houck; cherished grandfather of Jazmyne and Zayne; and brother of Dora (Kevin) Kelsey, Cheryl (James) Faircloth and the late Thomas Houck.

A memorial gathering will be held at Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home, 32814 Utica Road, Fraser on his birthday, May 27, 2017, from 2pm until the time of Memorial Service at 3pm. Share memories at www.faulmannwalsh.com
