Iris Marie Stouder, longtime resident of Clinton Township, died peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on December 29, 2016. She was 75 years of age.

Iris was born on January 1, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan, a delightful daughter of Grant and Marie (Courthouse) Scott. She was united in marriage to her beloved husband, Timothy Alfred Stouder, on July 26, 1958 in St. Augustin Catholic Church of Detroit. The couple made their home in Clinton Township in 1967 and they were blessed with four wonderful children of whom she loved and cherished. Iris cared for her family and made sure her children had a fun and loving upbringing. When the grandchildren started coming, they became the apple of her eye. Iris was outgoing, some would say, a kid at heart for the creativity, energy, silliness and understanding she had with children. She taught the grandchildren the art of games, cards and puzzles. Iris was an avid reader who also enjoyed crocheting. She has a wonderful and extensive collection of frogs and they all had names. Iris especially enjoyed her time with her husband and family at their cottage on Houghton Lake. She was known for her big heart, kind smile and her contagious laughter. Iris believed wholeheartedly in the old adage “Honesty is the best policy” and told everyone the way it was.

After physical struggles, Iris, with her loving family by her side, went home to be with the Lord Though we grieve her passing, we know that Iris has left us for a better life free from all pain and care. We are all eternally thankful for our cherished wife, mother, and Nanny who taught us to be more loving, carefree and genuine people by the life she led. Her light will continue to shine in the hearts of those that she has left behind.

Iris is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Timothy Sr.; her loving children, Laurie (Rick) McGuire, Timothy (Donna) Stouder Jr., Michael (Holly) Stouder and Deborah (Garry Kuzinkoski) Stouder; cherished grandchildren, Jennifer (John) Gusumano, Jason (April) McGuire, Stephanie (Chris) McCollom, Timothy P. Stouder, Brooke (Rich) Bonin, Michael Stouder Jr., Reilly Kuzinkoski and Matthew Miller; beautiful great grandchildren, Elliana, Dimitri, Maci, Reese, Tessa, Julia, Max and Allura; and siblings, Jean, Bob, Ray and Linda.
