Shirley A. Selby, a long time resident of Macomb County, died peacefully, surrounded by her family, Sunday evening in the care of Selby Nursing Center, Shelby Twp., at the age of 82.
Shirley was born in Clifton Forge, Virginia, on June 30, 1935, a daughter of the late Lucian and Mary (Miller) Irvine. She was united in marriage to her beloved George E. Selby on August 18, 1956 in Redford Michigan. The couple lived in Roseville for over 26 years until Georges death on May 13, 1991. Shirley moved to Clinton Township after his death and has resided there for over 25 years.
Shirley had worked for many years for the Chrysler Corporation in the parts departments dispatch and distribution center. She retired in 1997. Shirley was a loving person who devoted her life to her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a former member of the Lioness Club, was an Elvis fan, loved reading Louis Lemore novels and was an avid reader. She will be deeply missed by the many who knew and loved her.
Shirley is survived by her loving daughters, Deborah, Karen (Ray) Williams, and Pamela (Daren) Dehaan: her loving grandchildren, Michael, Tabetha, Justin, Jonathon, Trevor and Courtney; her brothers, Pete, Larry, Butch and Bobby and sister Nancy. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband George; her brothers, Thomas H., Calvin, Donald, and Leroy and by sisters, Mary Helen and Betty.
